Calculation of the total network transfer capacity

The calculation of the total network capacity as well as the security margin for the long term timeframes is generally is employed according to the agreed principles, which were developed in conjunction with the other European TSOs.

In the intraday timeframe, the neighboring TSOs (Amprion, Swissgrid, and TransnetBW) have been optimizing available cross-zonal capacities since mid-May 2024. Depending on the assessment of the grid situation, this may lead to an increase or decrease of the available capacity (intraday ATC).

For further information please refer to the  ENTSO-E Website.

Approved capacity calculation scheme

According to Article 5 (2) of the congestion management guidelines a general scheme for the calculation of the total transfer capacity and the transmission reliability margin based upon the electrical and physical features of the network is subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities. Below the calculation scheme approved of Bundesnetzagentur is published.
