Amprion achieves top result in first ESG Risk Rating
- ESG Risk Rating by Sustainalytics confirms Amprion’s sustainability strategy
- Ranked 4th out of 300 worldwide in the “electric utilities” category
- Rated as “Low Risk”
The transmission system operator (TSO) Amprion has received a top rating result in the first ESG risk rating by the renowned rating agency Sustainalytics. “ESG” stands for “Environment”, “Social” and “Governance”. Sustainalytics rates companies according to the risk in these areas on a scale of 0 to 100 points, whereby a low score means a better result. With a score of 12.8, Amprion is considered “low risk” and is ranked fourth out of 300 companies currently rated worldwide in the “electric utilities” category.
In particular, the areas of “land use and biodiversity”, “product governance” as well as “community relations” were rated as very low risk. According to the rating report, Amprion has a comprehensive programme for involving communities and non-governmental organisations. The environmental and occupational safety management, integrity management and cyber security programmes were also rated as strong.
"The ESG Risk rating confirms our comprehensive sustainability strategy and our contribution to a climate-neutral energy system," says Peter Rüth, Chief Financial Officer of Amprion. "The result encourages us to integrate ESG factors even more strongly into our financing in the future.” Amprion is currently working on a Green Finance Framework, which is a set of rules for financial instruments that are oriented towards sustainability. "Our goal is to issue green bonds in the foreseeable future," says Rüth.
